I'm finally back and done with all my travels! I have to admit, I was a bad blogger and didn't take food pictures. I didn't have time to blog and really didn't feel like coming home and trying to put up a million pictures. I suck. :) I did have a fun time!

Austin was was great seeing family! The kids had a ball! I ate tons of yummy food and drank tons of great wine! We stayed at the Barton Creek Hotel and it was fabulous! We had a great view from our room!

I only worked out once while I was there but I guess that's better than nothing. It was so hot and humid didn't want to do anything!! Well, now that I'm back, it's time to get back to business and get this weight off that I've put on in the last couple of weeks. This morning I had some Special K cereal, Fiber One cereal, blackberries and raspberries with almond milk:

I started the million of loads of laundry I had, got the kids breakfast, and went to my Cardio Muscle class, followed by Zumba. I really got my butt kicked today but I needed it! Remember when I wasn't feeling good a couple of weeks ago? Well, I still have this lousy cough and it really hinders my cardio. I wish it would go away already!!!

I ran to the grocery store and loaded up...we were out of everything!! I came home and fixed everyone lunch. My lunch was a gigantic salad topped with some hummus:

Now it's back to the laundry, cleaning out my email and working on dinner. We decided to do a simple BBQ tonight just for us and the kids and keep it low key and healthy of course!
I hope everyone is enjoying your Memorial Day Holiday!
Who didn't go to a BBQ??

Back at Home!

Last night we went to a restaurant that we've been to before when visiting Santa Barbara and have enjoyed very much: Lucky's Steakhouse.

Sorry the picture is sideways....still haven't figured that one out. Hubby and I split a Caesar salad and I had a glass of red wine:

For my entree I choose their Charred Rare Tuna with Japanese Vinaigrette, Green Onions and Shiitake Mushrooms:

It was out of this world good! I loved it! Too bad their dessert wasn't as good. We split the Chocolate Lava Cake (normally my favorite dessert ever!) but this cake was a little dry. :)

After a day of doing not very much, I was tired! We went back to the hotel and called it a night!

Breakfast this morning was the exact same as yesterday:

Egg white omelet with spinach and cheddar cheese, dry wheat toast and coffee. We got dressed packed up and headed home. The drive was about 4 hours. We were getting a bit hungry so we stopped at one of hubby's favorite spots: Del Taco. He really gets excited when he goes here. :) I had a taco salad, no sour cream and I didn't eat the shell. I did load it up with hot sauce after this picture was taken though. :)

We came home and I played a zillion games of Uno with the kids and then started some laundry and unpacked and then re-packed for our family trip to Austin, Texas tomorrow. It's been a few hours and I'm still not completely done. Ugh!

The hubby had to work tonight, so I heated up some pasta I found in the fridge and made a quick salad for dinner:

I just got the kiddos to bed and I'm going to finish packing and get ready for bed myself. Not sure when I'll be able to blog next but hopefully it will be soon!

Hello from Santa Barbara!

After my run/walk yesterday in Pebble Beach, I grabbed one of these bars (the snacks were complimentary in the room):

I changed and checked out of the room and went to lunch at Sticks, the golf restaurant at Spanish Bay...that's the hotel we stayed at by the way. We stay there every time we go to Pebble Beach and love it! The rooms are beautiful, the snacks and drinks (not alcohol) are complimentary and the service there is top notch. But I digress....

I had a glass of wine with lunch. To quote Tina from Carrots N Cake, I've been such a "boozy face" lately! I need to call it quits for awhile when I get home!

I ordered the Mediterranean Salmon salad with the dressing on the side. It had goat cheese, kalamata olives, mixed greens and croutons which I pushed to the side.

I ate every bite. It was an amazing salad!! I went back to the hotel lobby and had some coffee and read for awhile until the hubby got back from golf.

We packed up the car and hit the road for Santa Barbara. I had a bag of pretzels along the way:

The hubby drove for a little bit but I drove the rest of the way. It took about 4 hours. We were hungry by the time we got into Santa Barbara so we stopped at Carlito's (our current hotel's recommendation) for some Mexican food. I had a few chips and salsa but the salsa wasn't that good.

I ordered the seafood enchiladas for my entree. They were filled with tiny shrimp and tiny scallops.

It kinda looks like a mess huh? That's kinda how it tasted. :( Bleh. I got my food about 10 minutes before the hubby so they compensated us with a free dessert. How could we say no? We choose the Spicy Apple Cake with Dulce de Leche ice cream:

The dessert was much better than the actual food! :) We went to our hotel, checked it and went to sleep. I think it was around 11PM by the time we got into bed. I was pooped....driving takes a lot out of you! :)

We decided to order room service for breakfast this morning. I ordered the egg white omelet which had cheddar cheese and spinach with a side of dry wheat toast and lots of coffee:

We spent the next hour laying in bed, watching tv and being completely lazy. Then it was gym time. I decided to do Gina's Day 1 of her new Summer Shape Up plan. Thanks Gina! After the weights portion, I ran two miles on the treadmill in 20 minutes. That's a good time for me. It wasn't easy by any means but I wasn't dying. I felt great afterwards!

I came back to the room, changed into my bathing suit and hubby and I hit the jacuzzi. It felt amazing! After awhile, I went back to the room to change (again) and bring the hubby a shirt so we could have lunch.

We decided to stay at the hotel so we went to their restaurant. I had a warm, wonderful roll with a little butter:

Tuna Tartare (one of my favorite things ever):

I loved this tuna tartare. It was basic and simple and focused on the tuna. A lot of times I order this, it's full of tons of other stuff (mango, avocado, etc) which is fine in moderation but normally it takes over the tuna and doesn't leave a lot of the good stuff to eat! So this tuna tartare was a winner in my book!

I rolled with their veggie and goat cheese pizza for my entree. Look how big it is! The hubby was nice enough to help me out with it. :)

It was excellent! The crust was crazy thin....almost like a tortilla. Check out our view during lunch:

When my husband asked me if I had any room left for some creme brulee, of course the answer was yes!

The happy (and full!) couple:

My husband went back to the pool and I came back to the room to shower. So I've just been relaxing, reading blogs and watching tv. We are going to leave for dinner in about an hour and then tomorrow we are going to hit the road for home after breakfast. Wednesday morning, we fly with the kids to Austin, Texas to visit family. I'm looking forward to it!!

Pebble Beach Part Two!

When I last left you yesterday, I was able to head out to the golf course. Turns out that I didn't have to be my husband's caddy after all! American Express provided one for us as well as this awesome boxed lunch:

It contained a roast beef sandwich with grilled onions, pepper jack cheese, horseradish aoli and lettuce on ciabatta bread. Also in the box was penne pasta salad with grilled veggies and sun dried tomato vinaigrette AND a bag of chips, an apple and a lemon bar. Whew! I ate half of the sandwich and some of the chips and saved the rest for the course. It also turned out that we received complimentary food and beverage on the course as well. I decided to use that to my advantage and sip on a bloody mary:

I have this new cool app on my iphone that takes the coolest looking pictures. Check out my bloody mary:

Look at the beautiful view from the Pebble Beach golf course:

Check out the photo's the same view as the photo above. :)

There were sea lions (the white things in the picture) on the rocks:

It was pretty windy out and started to get very cold. I had some hot tea:

Hubby and I on the 18th green:

Check out all the birds!

As beautiful as the course was, I was ready for it to end. It took six hours for us to get through it (it's supposed to take 4 1/2 hours) and I was freezing. My toes were numb. We went back to our room and quickly changed and went to our dinner. We missed the cocktail hour, but no worries....there was plenty of wine:

I love my new app!

The first course was an angel hair pasta with a mushroom cream sauce:

It was really good! I wish that had been the entree! I wanted more! Next was a salad of mixed greens, beets and goat cheese drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette:

Our entree was filet mignon and mahi mahi:

I was really full by this point so I had a few bites of each. But I wasn't to full for dessert....

I do not remember what that thing was was chocolate with a cream center and raspberries with a raspberry sauce. It was yummy! After dinner we went to the bar with some friends we had met but didn't last too long. The bed was calling!! :)

This morning we had another complimentary Continental breakfast:

This time I went with a half of a bagel with cream cheese, one blueberry pancake and this croissant with eggs. I just ate the eggs out of it. And coffee of course!
Hubby has another round of golf today. I opted out. It's too cold. I decided it was the perfect weather for a run though! I consulted the concierge at the hotel and found a nice path along the ocean to use. I decided to alternate running and walking. I'd run for one song on my iphone and then walk when another song came on and just repeated this for about an hour and 40 minutes. It was awesome! After all this decadent food lately, I need to keep moving!!
I need to check out of my room shortly so I'm going to have lunch and read in the lobby until the hubby is done with golf. Then we hit the road for Santa Barbara for two nights! Excited!!
I'm going to miss Pebble Beach for sure. The hubby and I try to come here every year. We've come twice with kids and twice without. Even though the weather here is not for me, it's still a special place for me. It's so beautiful and we always have an amazing time here. It's completely relaxing and wonderful....even if you don't play golf like me. :)

Do you play golf? I never have....I tried hitting the ball once with the golf club and missed so I decided it wasn't for me. :)

Hello from Pebble Beach!

Greetings from Pebble Beach!!!! We finally made it here yesterday after 11 hours in the car! It's not supposed to take that long but we took the long, scenic route and stopped a few times. We were very glad when we pulled up at our hotel last night, let me tell you!!! Before we move on, we need to go back......

Thursday night was Ladies Night at Pacifica Del Mar. The view from their outdoor patio is incredible....all ocean. The food is equally incredible! Our waiter was kind enough to inform us that it was half price for bottles of wine. So of course I had to order one! Fortunately, one of my friends was kind enough to help share it with me. :)

My friend Dina and I decided to split the calamari:

It was really good calamari! For my entree I choose the Pan Roasted New Zealand Seabass (soy glaze, sticky rice, bok choy, green coconut curry sauce):

Loved. it. The coconut curry sauce was so delicious!!! Dina wanted some chocolate so I could not let her eat it alone of course!!

Chocolate cake with ice cream. Ahhhhhh....I love chocolate! We had tons of fun laughing and eating delicious food. If you're ever in San Diego, make sure to check out won't be disappointed!!

Friday morning, I got dressed, packed up and grabbed breakfast to go: peanut butter sandwich and some cantaloupe and then we hit the road!

We stopped in Los Angeles to visit a friend and then got back on the road. We wanted to take the scenic route so we drove up the coast and stopped in Malibu at Geoffrey's for lunch. This place also has amazing views!!

Along with my standard glass of wine, I had the Spicy Shrimp Salad for lunch:

The hubby ordered a side of fries with his lunch and I might have stolen some of those. :) We got back on the road and drove for awhile until I decided it was time for some "wake up juice":

I guess it didn't work because I fell asleep anyway. The hubby was a good sport...I only drove for 2 of those hours. ;) The ride was beautiful though....we took the Pacific Coast Highway for most of the way. We drove past the grounds of Hearst Castle and saw the zebra they have there just grazing in the grass. It was such a sight! Sorry no that point, we didn't want to stop anymore. :)

We finally arrived at the hotel around 6:30PM and checked it. We are here on some golf package sponsored by American Express so after we cleaned up, we went to our welcome cocktail reception. I had the usual:

They had a nice buffet of shrimp cocktail (I had a couple), cheeses, crackers and a great pasta bar! I had to sample all of them!

They had the most delicious rack of lamb with a garlic au jus:

And these crazy ginormous cookies! There were about 5 different kinds and I had a hard time choosing but I went with the standard chocolate chip:

I wanted to try them all but I would have either felt bad about wasting bits of cookies or made myself sick by eating them all. Glad I resisted. Afterwards, we were really tired and just came back to the room and went to sleep. We are old. :)

This morning, they had a nice Continental breakfast set up for us.

I had scrambled eggs, a bagel with lox and some coffee. I also had an unpictured bran muffin. Hubby went to a golf clinic and now I'm finishing getting dressed to meet him for his tee time. The course at Pebble Beach is so beautiful that I decided to walk it with him. He's trying to convince me to be his caddy....we'll see! :)
