141.0….Happy Birthday to me!!

This will be your last reminder to enter the giveaway for $20 in Wendy’s gift cards. Get on it! :)

First and foremost, Happy Birthday to me! I love my birthday and I’m not shy to tell people that it’s my special day! I mean, what other day is it all about you? :)

Last night after picking up the kids from school, I made a carrot cake for my babysitter. It was her birthday yesterday!

I used this recipe and was really impressed! It was pretty darn good….especially the frosting! :)

We took the kids and met some friends at The Hamburger Factory in Poway. I really love that place. Look what we had:

More hot wings! You think I’d be sick of them after my hot wing coma, but sadly No.

I had a delicious cheeseburger:

And shared some “frings” with the hubby:

I think the holidays need to end so I can go on my January diet STAT!

Breakfast:

You know what this is by now.

I took the kids to school and went over to Great News for a cooking class. Before I stopped at Starbucks for my free birthday latte:

Today’s cooking class was called “Festive Breads and More”.

The first recipe was Chocolate Chunk and Hazelnut Scones:

I’m not a big scone fan but this one was REALLY good!

Next up was Braided Sweet Bread:

Also good. I love this type of bread.

The third recipe was Rosemary-Cranberry Nut Loaf:

There was only a hint of rosemary in the bread. It was good, but just a basic loaf of quick bread to me.

Next was my favorite: Toffee-Pecan Sticky Buns:

‘Nuff said.

The next recipe was Bacon, Apple filled Muffins with Cinnamon Streusel:

I was really excited about this one but I didn’t care for it as much as  I thought I would. The bacon flavor actually threw me off a bit.

Last was Classic Dresden Stolen:

Very pretty to look and tasty too!

I took most of the breads home with me. Talk about carb overload!! And tonight, hubby is taking me out to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Firenze. I didn’t want to ruin a nice big bowl of pasta by eating too much bread!

Off to go celebrate my birthday!!!

Do you get excited about your birthday or is it just another day?

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love my birthday too...it's the one day you get to be the center of attention! Well I get the wedding too, next year. Oh and I HEAR ya on the Jan diet...I'm giving Weight Watchers another go! Oh and if you're doing any classes between Christmas and New Years at Great News, I'd love to meet up for coffee before or after (or Happy Hour at Costa Brava?) since it's in my 'hood and I'm off from work that week.
