Well, this morning's breakfast was an experiment:

I don't like bananas. You ask, "Why are there bananas on your toast then?" Here's some background info on my food dislikes. I don't have many. A few years ago I had three major dislikes: mushrooms, olives and bananas. I made myself like mushrooms just because they seemed to be in everything good! So now mushrooms are my friends. Onto olives....I'm working on it but am having a hard time. I don't mind black olives on veggie pizza but that's about it. I'm trying to like greek olives since the greek salad is so good but I'm not doing that well. Again, olives are in a lot of good recipes so I feel I need to like them. This brings us to bananas. One word: yuck. They are squishy. I don't like squishy. But I do like nut butters. A friend told me that I'd like bananas if I put nut butter on them. Hence, my breakfast today: Ezekiel bread with a tablespoon of almond butter and a half a banana.

The verdict: On the fence. The first bite was gross....just as I expected it to be. But as I made my way through my banana experiment, it started to grow on me. Now, I'm not in love but I'm not mad at the banana like I thought I'd be. So, we will see if the banana reappears any time soon. :)

What are foods you don't like?

Moving on....dropped the kids at school and returned a library book. I have two books waiting in the wings (Time Traveler's Wife and Dan Brown's new book) and I can't wait to start reading them. The problem: which one to start first?? Then it was off to spin class. It was a glorious 45 minutes of sweaty spinning followed by 15 minutes of abs. Very nice!!!

Then it was off to my wax & facial appointment. I knew I wouldn't be eating lunch until late so I brought a snack to tide me over.

A flat out wrap with two tablespoons Better N Peanut Butter and an apple. This is my favorite filling, hearty go-to snack. After my appointment, I was really hungry. I've been ravenous for the past couple of days so I needed something healthy but hearty. I went to Corner Bakery and had half a tuna sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup.

I ate it all except for the potato chips and the croutons on the soup. So fresh and good....I really like Corner Bakery. Look at all those veggies on the sammie!!

Next was Target.....how do I love thee store! I only needed a few things but managed to spend more than $100 (as always). I did find a cute Halloween costume for myself: a flapper. My two year old daughter will be going as a flapper (she is unaware of this) so I thought it would be cute for me to go as one too! Now we'll have to see how it fits. Anyhoo, I digress.....

So....hubby was supposed to go to a work dinner tonight, therefore I was planning on having Enchilada Lasagna leftovers from the other night. I then get the call that the dinner was cancelled and he wanted to take us all out to eat. Yippee!! No leftovers for me (although, I was kinda excited about it). I choose an Italian restaurant that I've been wanting to go to for awhile: Cafe Luna. Hubby and I split a Caprese salad. It was just your average Caprese salad. For my entree I order a linguine with mushrooms, prosciutto and Roma tomatoes in a pink sauce. Of course I piled the red pepper flakes on top. Yup....I did it again.....forgot the pic. But you can see the aftermath:

It was really good!!!! I think I'm finally full now. It only took all day! Hope everyone is having a great night!

  1. FYI: traditional Greek salads do not have olives. So feel free to enjoy Greek salads sans olives.

  4. I also don;t like bananas, eww! Someone told me that you can make yourself like something if you try it at least 5 times- and I did this with olives. I used to hate them but now I will actually eat one. I just kept trying them and grew to like the flavor.
