138.4…The Marine Room

Since I ate lunch so early yesterday, it was no wonder that by 3:30 I was hungry again. I made due with a snack of Wheat Thins and Babybel cheese.

My husband and I met some friends at The Marine Room in La Jolla for dinner. I had been to The Marine Room twice before but both times were for large parties. This was the first time as a regular dinner guest. The Marine Room is right along the La Jolla coast and has beautiful views! Although we arrived after sunset, the restaurant has lights on the sand so you can still see the water.

While we sat at the bar waiting for our friends to arrive, I enjoyed a glass of wine while watching the ocean rolling up on the sand.

The photo is bad but the wine glass was HUGE. It made me happy. :)

Once our friends arrived, we were seated. My husband and I split the Classic Caesar Salad as our appetizer.

It was awesome: perfect blend of garlic and parmesan goodness.

For my entree, I chose the Sea Salt Crispy Skin Market Sea Bass (celeriac puree, boudin blanc , baby Brussels sprouts, preserved tomato, hazelnut pesto):

It was pretty good! The presentation of the food was beautiful. I’m not sure it’s worth the price tag but I guess you are paying for ambiance too.

The dessert, however, was worth every penny.

Spindrift Cobblestone Pie:  Espresso and Vanilla Gelato, Toasted Hazelnuts
Myers Rum Butterscotch. Holy yum! Also worth every single calorie! Yeah for dessert!

Breakfast this morning was Fage yogurt with strawberries.

I took the kids to school and then went to spin class. I haven’t been in almost 4 weeks. It was nice to be back and get a good sweat on!

We are taking the kids to Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday for the weekend so I began packing.

Lunch was a turkey sandwich and roasted red pepper and tomato soup.

I need to pick up the kiddos from school and get ready for…..HOT WING night! Now that I have my appetite back, I will definitely be eating more than six hot wings. :)

How did you get your sweat on today?

  1. Uggg! 60 minutes on the elliptical this morning. It's my 3rd work out in a row so I was feeling so tired but I managed 560 calories burned. I'm working out tomorrow too and then it's time for a break.

  2. Everything look so delicious to me but I think a simple bowl of strawberries and yogurt is good and satisfying for me.

Sweat on? Running! Running is my other passion! I am currently training to run a marathon this Oct. Finger crossed!

  5. @Andrea
Hope you're feeling better! We are going to Phoenix for a Suns game with the kids and a weekend of pool/relaxation time! Looking forward to it! Any (kid friendly) restaurant recommendations?

  6. Hooray for hot wing night!! I found out I like sea bass! I normally don't like any fish (except frozen fish sticks, not sure that counts!) - too bad my store sells it for $20 a pound! :(

    Have fun tonight!

  7. Wow that dessert sounds absolutely amazing! I'm going to go out for a little run and maybe a little strength training but I'm still pretty sore from a workout I did on Monday!
