142.6…Lady Gaga!

Lady Gaga sure knows how to put on a show!!! We had such a great time last night at her concert.

On the way to the concert we all stopped at Villa Capri for dinner.

March 2011 299

I love their Caesar salad. Hubby and I ordered the large size to split. I did the most damage on it.

March 2011 300

For dinner I ordered the lobster ravioli. It came with a pink sauce and some black mussels:

March 2011 301

Seriously…I don’t know what could have been more comforting. Maybe a nap afterwards? :) Nope…no time for a nap. Time for Lady Gaga!

The concert was held at Viejas Arena at San Diego State University. I had never been there before…it was a great venue!

March 2011 302

The husband and I:

March 2011 303

He’s the best. He asked me what I’d like to drink. When he returned, he brought not one but two glasses (cups) of wine. How well does he know me??

March 2011 304

Here are some photos from the concert:

March 2011 320

I had such a fun time dancing and singing to her music. I really enjoy watching her….she’s a nut! We got home after midnight….you know that’s crazy late for me!!

It wasn’t as rough getting up this morning as I’d thought it would be. I knew what I wanted for breakfast immediately:

March 2011 321

Another toasted English muffin with Barney Butter and some strawberries.

I took the kids to school and came home to catch up on some work. I got the laundry going, got my nails & toes done (my feet are looking a little scary with all this running) an made lunch.

March 2011 322

Trader Joe’s mac & cheese, tuna, cherry tomatoes and peas. Random but it was good!

I picked up the kiddos from school and came right home. My son has a playdate this afternoon and I have track practice tonight and then I’m going right to bed. Tomorrow is ANOTHER big day.

My friend’s husband got tickets to the AMERICAN IDOL taping tomorrow and I got one of the tickets!!! Isn’t that crazy!?! I’m so freaking excited. I really want to see Jennifer Lopez. I think she is beyond beautiful. I’ll be in Los Angeles all day tomorrow so I’m not sure I’ll be posting but stay tuned for a recap. I don’t think we can bring our cameras inside so we’ll see. Eeeeek!!!!!

Are you watching American Idol? Who is your favorite contestant?

What is your favorite store bought macaroni and cheese?

143.4…The Perfect Meal

Between my daughter’s playdates yesterday I snacked on some dates. Why the heck are these so good?

March 2011 295

When I’m tired and hungry, my go-to meal is pasta. To me, there is nothing more comforting than a big old bowl of the good stuff.

March 2011 296

After my daughter’s last playdate, I cooked up some linguine and topped it with marinara sauce, tons of red pepper flakes and Garlic Gold. Underneath the pasta mountain there is sautéed spinach and zucchini. See, I got my veggies in! :)

Pasta=the perfect meal.

After a fabulous night’s sleep, I felt a ton better. Hubby took the kids to school today so I took my time getting up and eating breakfast:

March 2011 297

Toasted English muffin with Barney Butter almond butter and a grapefruit.

I went to spin class and got a great workout in. So glad I skipped my run yesterday. I felt recharged and really killed it in spin class today.

I ran a whole bunch of errands including Trader Joes, BevMo (whipped vodka anyone?) and to the toy store for some upcoming birthday gifts. Along the way I stopped for a tuna sandwich at Submarina:

March 2011 298

I love tuna sandwiches. Love.

I picked the kids up from school and took them to PetCo pet store. Their “Dog Smart” teacher wanted me to take them there to practice petting and being around other dogs. There were two dogs in the store. My kids wanted no part of them. Oh well. I tried. :)

I mentioned earlier that this week was going to be crazy right? Sunday night was the Laker basketball game. Tonight…..Lady Gaga concert. Oh yeah! Hubby surprised me with tickets and invited friends of ours to join us. He really knows how to score points with me.

Gotta get ready for Gaga!!

What was the last concert you went to?

Who would you like to see in concert?

143.8…Too Tired

I was up way past my bedtime last night. Good times were had but now I’m paying for it. :(

Our friends won Los Angeles Laker tickets in a luxury box complete with a driver to and from LA. We were the lucky invitees. Our ride picked us up at 3PM and we hit the road for Los Angeles. There may have been some toasting on the way.

March 2011 283

The driver provided cheese and crackers. I didn’t eat much of a lunch so I went to town on the cheese. :)

March 2011 284

We arrived in Los Angeles a couple of hours later and went to the Palm restaurant for a quick dinner. The wine list offered 6 oz OR 9 oz glasses of wine. Guess which one I went with. :)

March 2011 285

9 ounces of my dreams.

By the time we ate dinner, I was super hungry so I went with two appetizers. The wedge salad:

March 2011 286

This thing was pretty big and the best wedge I’ve ever had. I also ordered the appetizer crab cake:

March 2011 287

It came with mango salsa which I’m not a fan of. The crab cake was a little too sweet tasting for me but I loved the lump crab meat in it.

I was still in full salad mode when the crab cake arrived. At that point I had two large plates in front of me. The next thing I know, the waiter is having my scoot back so he can pull an extra part of the table out to make it bigger for me. Yep, I’m that girl that needs more room for my food.

We arrived at the Staples Center, found our seats in the luxury box and watched the Lakers dominate!

March 2011 290

At some point a cart of desserts appeared:

March 2011 288

Hell yeah!

March 2011 289

I would have liked to hitch a ride on that baby and see where it took me. :) I choose a slice of smores cake. It was layers of chocolate cake, graham crackers, marshmallows and who knows what else. It was amazing.

March 2011 291

We didn’t get home until after 11pm. I had a hard time falling asleep for whatever reason so when my alarm went off this morning,  I was not a happy camper.

I made some toast with almond butter and had the last two mandarin oranges. I really need to get to the store.

March 2011 293

I took the kids to school and went to Cardio Muscle class. My half marathon training for today was supposed to be 4 miles of rolling hills. After class was over I could not bring myself to run. There was no way my legs were going to cooperate so I skipped it. I’m not going to lie….I felt and still feel guilty. I haven’t skipped a run once. But I really need to listen to my body. That run would have been ugly.

I came home and read some blogs. By 11:00 I was famished. Tomato soup and grilled cheese again.

March 2011 294

Sorry the food has been boring lately! I just realized that I haven’t cooked any real meal in awhile! This week won’t be any better. It’s going to be a crazy week!

I picked up my daughter from school and took her to a playdate. From there we picked up my son and came home. My daughter has another playdate this afternoon. She is a social lady. :)

I cannot wait for bedtime. Can. Not. Wait. This week is going to be nuts. Wait until you see what I’ve got going on. :)

What is your regular bedtime?

Are you looking forward to anything this week?

142.2…Laker Bound!

Happy Sunday! Our friends invited us to the Laker Game tonight and I have a lot to do before we leave!

Breakfast was my favorite spicy eggs using egg beaters, jalapenos, salsa, red onion and spinach. I put the eggs on top of some refried beans. Delish!

March 2011 281

I showered and read some blogs. Now I need to get the kids fed and drop them off at a friend’s house. Then I need to pick up the hubby at the airport. He was in Las Vegas this weekend for a bachelor party. I don’t think any other 35 year old man goes to as many bachelor parties as my husband does.

I just heated up the last of my Chicken Tikka Masala for lunch.

March 2011 282

As soon as it was ready, I realized that I wasn’t very hungry. So I took two bites and put it back in the fridge. I guess lunch will have to wait.

I hate to run but I’ve got to get my Laker colors on and run!

Ever been to a NBA Basketball Game?

What was the best thing you ate all weekend?

140.0…I Eat 9 Miles for Breakfast

Today was a day of domination. I feel like I totally dominated everything I attempted today. It’s been a LONG day so I’m going to try and make this snappy.

Yesterday after I brought the kids home from school, I made a batch of Rice Krispy Treats with M&M’s for my kids and nephews who were coming over the next day.

March 2011 272

I dropped the kids off at my club’s Kid’s Movie Night and had a movie night of my own. Hubby wasn’t home so I took advantage of the evening by myself. I reheated some leftover Chicken Tikka Masala and ate it with brown rice and peas. I poured myself a glass of wine and ate dinner in front of the TV.

March 2011 273

I watched Eat Pray Love while finishing my wine and a little chocolate:

March 2011 274

I enjoyed the movie but I thought the book was better. :)

I picked up the kiddos and everyone went to bed.

My alarm went off at 5:30am. Got my running gear on and grabbed some peanut butter toast for breakfast.

March 2011 275

I hit the road to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas to meet Team in Training for our long run of the week.

March 2011 269

Today’s run was NINE miles. I was super nervous last night but as soon as my feet started moving this morning, I knew all would be well. I dominated nine miles.

Here I am at an aid station enjoying some water and gummy bears:

March 2011 270

I tried some shot blocks today and I really liked those. Much better than that Gu crap. :)

Turns out our route was a little longer than 9 miles.

March 2011 271

Mile 1 – 11:25

Mile 2 – 11:05

Mile 3 – 10:52

Mile 4 – 10:45

Mile 5 – 10:45

Mile 6 – 10:34

Mile 7 – 10:29

Mile 8 – 11:15

Mile 9 – 10:49

Mile .62 – 10:23

I really felt like I could have kept going. I think  I really can run 13.1 miles. No, I KNOW I can!

After some stretching, I hopped in the car to head home. I ate one of these Trader Joe’s Vanilla Almond Crunch bars:

March 2011 276

I showered quickly and the kids and I headed over to my sister in law’s house. It’s my nephew’s first birthday today.

As soon as I arrived, I dominated the cheese and crackers. I ate like it was my job.

March 2011 277

I also had some lamb wrapped in lavash bread with some hummus.

When it was cake time, I dominated the cake. I just took a fork to it and went to town.

March 2011 278

Just kidding. I ate a normal sized piece. :)

We chilled there for the rest of the day. I sat and relaxed and it felt great. At some point, it was wine time. More domination.

March 2011 279

For dinner my sister in law made spaghetti and pizza. Domination? You bet!

March 2011 280

That was plate one of two. :)

I came back to my house after dinner with my kids and two of my nephews. They played for a bit until their parents came to pick them up.

My kids are fast asleep and I’m next. Time to dominate dream land!

Have you read/seen the Eat Pray Love book/movie?

What did you dominate this weekend?

141.0…I Dream of Wasabi

I enjoyed my sushi immensely last night. I love sushi. I wish I could sing it from the rooftops.

My friend Dina and I went to Love Boat Sushi last night. I had two glass of wine over the coarse of the evening.

March 2011 259

Our waiter brought us edamame and I also had a salad and miso soup to start:

March 2011 260

Then my tuna nigiri arrived.

March 2011 261

Me with all my eats:

March 2011 263

Such a happy lady. :)

But the best was yet to come. My favorite roll:

March 2011 264

The Wasabi Roll. It is what spicy dreams are made of. Inside there’s salmon, spicy tuna and a ton of wasabi. Order this if you have any sinus issues.

We both decided we needed some kind of chocolate dessert. We went across the street to The Elephant Bar. They had a special dessert called The Chocolate Indulgence. When we asked if it was like a chocolate lava cake, the waiter said yes and that is was also like an undercooked brownie. Score!

Well, it was not anything like a chocolate lava cake or a brownie whatsoever cooked or not cooked.

March 2011 265

It was more like warm chocolate pudding. It was topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and nuts. Now I’m not complaining, it satisfied my sweet tooth nicely. I’ve never been a big fan of The Elephant Bar. It always seems to be slightly disappointing.

I was a lazy bum this morning. Usually I get up super early and get dressed before the kids get up. I also eat breakfast before taking them to school usually. Today I decided to reverse things. I slept in, threw on some sweats and then got the kids ready and out the door. I showered and got dressed when I got back. Then I finally had breakfast.

March 2011 266

Egg beaters, light provolone cheese on toast with a side of strawberries.

I skipped Cardio Muscle class today because I have to run NINE miles tomorrow and I’m slightly (a lot) nervous. I want to rest the legs today.

It was raining when lunch time rolled around. Tomato soup and grilled cheese sounded like the perfect lunch.

March 2011 267

I put some turkey slices and Dijon mustard in the grilled cheese and added a couple of pickle spears.

After picking up the kids and coming home, I got some laundry going and had a snack:

March 2011 268

It’s kid’s movie night again at our club. Hubby isn’t going to be home so it’s just me, myself and I. Nice. :)

Have you ever been to The Elephant Bar? Thoughts?

Any big plans this weekend?
