Boston Day One

Our family vacation is off to a great start! We are staying at the Colonnade Hotel which is in a great location!! I can’t wait to explore the city!

Yesterday on my Virgin America flight, I was able to order lunch from my seat. You just choose what you want on the screen in the seat back in front of you and they bring it to you. I ordered a tuna sandwich. Their tuna was made with capers and Spanish olives. Now, I’m not the biggest olive fan but it was pretty darn good! My sandwich also came with a piece of dark chocolate.

Shortly after we arrived at our hotel, their was a knock at the door and I opened it to find a complimentary cheese & crackers plate:

And cookies and milk…..

That is until my daughter spilled the milk all over the cookies. I bet they would have been good. :)

My aunt lives in Boston and recommend that we all go to the restaurant in our hotel: Brasserie Jo.

My aunt ordered  their classic style pizza: fromage blanc, onion and bacon. She was so nice to share it with me. It was beyond delicious!

For my entree, I ordered the Roasted Salmon with melted leeks, shiitake mushrooms and green peppercorns:

It was wonderful! The service was excellent (they didn’t bat an eyelash when my son broke a glass) :) and the food was delicious!

After dinner, my husband and I went to the grocery store to get some food for breakfast and other things (wine).

Look what I found at the store here:

Teddie Peanut  Butter! I see it all over the blog world and cannot find it in San Diego. I had some on a piece of cinnamon brown sugar bread for breakfast. I see what all the hype is about. It’s great peanut butter. I’m thinking I should bring a few containers home with me?

I also bought some granola so I had some with some milk:

My mother in law’s cousin (who also lives here) picked us up this morning and drove us to Cape Cod to see her house there. She has a beautiful house overlooking the water. Cape Cod is beautiful!!!

We stopped for lunch at the restaurant at the golf club near her house. I ordered a chopped club salad with balsamic vinaigrette:

It was HUGE and I ate it all. Duh!

We made our way back to Boston and now I’m enjoying some wine and snacks in our room. If I keep up this snack attack dinner may not happen. Yeah, right.

Any fun weekend plans?

Have you ever been to Cape Cod?

  3. Sounds like you're having a great time with more ahead! All the food looks so craveable. I've never heard of Teddie peanut butter! Jealous! I had to LOL @ your daughter spilling milk on the cookies. When my sisters and I were kids, it never failed that whenever we were at a restaurant, one of us would end up spilling our drinks all over the table. My parents were slow to learn to ask for cups with lids--haha!
