142.6…Six Years Ago

Six years ago today I became a mom. Today is my son’s sixth birthday and he is beyond overjoyed!

The celebrations started yesterday. My mother in law is spending the weekend with us and we all went out to dinner at Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant last night. I had some wine before I left. I guess it escaped the camera. At the restaurant I dominated the chips, guacamole and salsa. I could make a meal out of that. But I didn’t….I ordered a cheese enchilada and carne asada combination:

Looks healthy right? :) It tasted amazing.

Waking up at 5:00AM this morning to meet Team in Training for our long run wasn’t very fun. Too much wine? Too much greasy food? Yes and Yes. But that’s ok…you must forge ahead!

I had my standard pre-long run breakfast: peanut butter on toast:

11 miles was on the agenda today. 11 miles!!! ELEVEN MILES. (Just in case you didn’t hear me the first time.)

I survived! My knees started to bother me near the end but I could have kept going. I guess I’m a running machine! :)

Mile 1 – 11:06

Mile 2 – 10:43

Mile 3 – 11:01

Mile 4 – 10:47

Mile 5 – 11:03

Mile 6 – 10:57

Mile 7 – 11:10

Mile 8 – 11:00

Mile 9 – 11:05

Mile 10 – 10:41

Mile 11 – 10:33

After some stretching, I hopped in the car and ate a Larabar:

I stopped at Starbucks on the way home for a giant iced skinny vanilla latte:

Love.

My son wanted two things for his birthday. Number One: to go on a hike. Not sure where he got the idea but that’s what he wanted. Fortunately my family went on a hike while I was running. Not sure I’d want to hike after running 11 miles.

The other thing he wanted was to go to PF Changs for lunch. He’s got good taste!

Hubby and I split their prix fixe menu. I started with some egg drop soup:

Then we shared lettuce wraps:

We ordered the Changs Spicy Chicken, Sesame Chicken and Chicken Lo Mein. My plate (with brown rice):

We also got to each choose a mini dessert. I went with the red velvet cake:

My son made a great choice for lunch!!

When we got home, I finished up the laundry, finished my son’s birthday cake and made some Rice Krispy Treats for our family coming over tomorrow.

Now I’m going to chill for a bit. I’ve got ice on my knees and I’m thinking they’d feel better if I had some wine.

Have you ever been to PF Changs?

Do you have a restaurant you frequent on your birthday?

Love P.F. Chang's - but we usually fix everyones favorite dinner for their birthday - my daughter will have tacos, and my husband usually wants fried chicken. :D

  8. Wow, you go girl! 11 miles is nothing to sneeze at.

Your son has good taste. I remember when there was only one PF Changs...the first one started here at Scottsdale Fashion Square. :-)

  9. That is crazy! The furthest I ever went in training was 8 miles and I'm glad b/c if I would have had to do 11, I never would have been able to do the half marathon. I would have just given up during the training--LOL! I remember after running it, I was so. sore. And even though they told me to take an ice cold bath, I took a steaming hot bath. I have a tip for you--going downstairs can be painful after 15 miles (although you'll be better prepared and might not be as sore) but I discovered if I went down stairs backwards it was much easier! Weird, right? Anyway, happy birthday to your son!! He has good food tastes. Must have got that from his Mama. :)

  11. Happy birthday to your son, and good job on the long run! For my birthday for the last few years, I like celebrating with a simple meal at one of my favorite restaurants here in Boston called Stella.
