145.8…Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July everyone!! I hope everyone is having a fun and relaxing holiday! I know I am!

Let’s get caught up….

Saturday morning I made a egg burrito with a Flat Out wrap, egg whites, avocado and Cholula hot sauce. I had some pineapple on the side.

I was supposed to go to spin class but I was still feeling pretty awful after running in 90 plus degree weather the day before so I skipped class.

I showered and packed for our trip to Los Angeles. I also made my famous “Crack Brownies” to take to my brother’s Housewarming party on Sunday.

We hit the road and stopped at Garcia’s Mexican restaurant for lunch. I ordered a chicken tostada.

I also ate a few chips and salsa. I practiced some restraint and only ate a few.

We arrived at our hotel and checked in. The kids went swimming with my husband while I relaxed in the room. Then we all headed over to my parent’s house for dinner.

My dad (who is feeling better by the way) put out some cheese and crackers. I had a few along with some wine.

We went to Go China restaurant for dinner. I ordered their “Single Dinner” which came with soup. I chose the Egg Flower soup.

For my entree I went with the Curry Shrimp. It came with rice, salad, an egg roll and a fried cheese wonton.

I ate the eggroll, the shrimp & veggies and some of the rice. The rest went to my dad. :) It was just ok.

We went back to our hotel and called it a night. I got up Sunday morning to get ready and then went to the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast. At the buffet I ordered an egg beater omelet with tons of veggies, a little pepper jack cheese, avocado and salsa. I also had some pineapple and watermelon.

We got packed up and made our way over to my nephew’s 2nd birthday party. I had two small pieces of pizza and a few bites of cake. You know I have a hard time resisting birthday cake!

Next up was my brother’s housewarming party. They just moved in a couple months ago and I had not seen their house yet. It was so cute!! My brother had a taco truck come for lunch. I ate a ton of tacos and drank of ton of wine. I didn’t take any photos….I just chilled with family and friends and relaxed. I had a blast. Eventually it was time to hit the road back to San Diego. I have to tell you….I’m getting mighty sick of that drive!

This morning we slept in a bit which felt great! I love holidays! :)

Since I slept in, I didn’t have time to make breakfast before my Cardio Muscle class but I needed to eat something so I quickly ate a Kashi bar with the last pineapple spear.

Cardio Muscle class was great! It was just what I needed….I miss my weights! Afterwards I showered and then it was time for lunch!

Turkey sandwich on wheat with cucumber, lettuce, tomato and a Laughing Cow cheese wedge. I made a big salad tossed with Girard’s Light Champagne Vinaigrette.

Delish!

The next few hours will be spent catching up on email. Then we are headed over to a friend’s house for dinner. She told me that she’s making fried chicken. But not any fried chicken….Ina Garten’s recipe. I’ve made that before and it rocks! Guess my diet will be on hold tonight!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Did you barbeque or attend someone’s barbecue today?

What’s your favorite thing to do on a holiday?

  1. I'm glad your dad's feeling better and that you got to sleep in - woo!

No BBQ for us - just a homebody family day!

  2. I love how that tostada looks like a mountain of cheese and lettuce! We went to a co-workers house and had grilled burgers and did fireworks. Hope your 4th was fun!

  3. Hi Melissa! How funny, I was just thinking about Go China the other day when I drove by. I've lived here all my life and have never been. I was just thinking it's been there forever, so it must be good. Doesn't sound like it though, huh? Glad you had a good time with your family!

  4. Christina: Thanks! Yeah...it wasn't the best Chinese food I've ever had. :( My parents like the new Grandview Palace. :)
