139.4 yesterday…Let’s play croquet!
I’m lying in my hotel bed, drinking coffee and looking out over vineyards….I’m a happy camper! Let’s rewind…
Thursday night, I decided I was in “vacation mode” and broke out some wine:
We had an unexpected guest for dinner so I’m glad I bought pizza dough from Trader Joe’s:
After letting the dough rest, I put it in the pan and drizzled it with olive oil and baked the crust for 10 minutes. Then I added the sauce, cheese and veggies and forgot to take a picture. But. trust me, it was delicious! I made a Caesar salad to go with it.
After dinner, I got cleaned up, put the kids to bed and got packed for Napa.
Friday morning I quickly grabbed a waffle with peanut butter before we headed to the airport:
Our flight ended up being delayed for an hour and a half so we decided to go standby on an earlier flight. I was still hungry so I grabbed a sandwich at Starbucks:
It was a chicken cheddar sandwich on ciabatta. It was just ok. The bread was a little dry. I wouldn’t get it again.
We got lucky and got on the earlier flight! Yes! We arrived safely in San Francisco, got our rental car and made the hour and 45 minute drive to Napa. When we arrived at our hotel, our room wasn’t ready yet so we decided to get a snack. We stopped at the first place we saw: KFC/A&W. Hubby and I split chicken strips and fries:
The chicken strips weren’t very good so I just had some fries. We finally checked in our room and found this waiting for us from the hotel:
Nice! The hotel is very country-esque with cute little cottages all over the property. Check out the hot tub on our patio as well as the gorgeous view of a vineyard!
Then our doorbell rang and we received this from the bride and groom:
Double Nice! Of course I had to break into one of those bad boys right away!
We got ready for the night’s event: Croquet! The game was held at Meadowood and they had a beautiful croquet area:
Everyone had to wear white and it looked really cool! I had never played croquet before but was excited! They had passed appetizers during the game (I didn’t really like any of them except a tuna tartare one) and TONS of white. My glass was never empty. Here’s hubby taking his first shot:
Just in case you were wondering: I kicked his butt. :)
The next stop for the wedding party was Gotts Roadside for burgers.
I love a good cheeseburger so I was more than excited! The groom brought wine for everyone:
I had had my fill of wine by then so I only had a few sips. I was patiently waiting for this:
Quite possibly the best burger of my life. I ordered the Texas Burger: jack cheese, guacamole, salsa, mayo and pickled jalapenos. Amazing. AMAZING.
I had a few of hubby’s chili cheese fries:
But my burger held my attention:
I really want another one ASAP.
After a great night’s sleep, I dragged myself to the hotel’s little restaurant for their complimentary continental breakfast. I grabbed a few things and brought them back to my room:
Cheese, bran muffin, pineapple, quiche and an amazing homemade English muffin. I put butter on one half and peanut butter on the other.
Now I’m back in bed! Enjoy your Saturday! The wedding is tonight!
What are your weekend plans?
Woohoo! Have fun at the Wedding. The croquet/white party reminds me of Gossip Girl ( I am an occasional watcher) Oh and that burger, sounds and looks delicious! :)
