Last night we took the kids to Brett's BBQ to meet some friends for dinner. I ordered the half chicken with baked beans and green beans:

Everyone around me was eating baby back ribs, fries, fabulous looking mac n cheese, etc. I struggled not to attack all the food around me. I succeeded. We all went to Dairy Queen afterwards for dessert. I checked online on my phone to see what would be low in calories for me to order. Looked like the kids cone was the best option....everything else was ridiculous. Well, turns out they discontinued the kids cones. What!?! So I had nothing. I did try a bite of my daughter's cone and I decided that it wasn't that good anyway. :)

Breakfast was an egg beater sandwich on a bagel thin with salsa and low fat Swiss cheese and a side of strawberries:

I took the kids to camp and went to Zumba. I came home and had lunch: Trader Joe's pea soup and a sandwich with turkey, Laughing Cow cheese, red onion, lettuce and Dijon mustard:

I did some baking for this weekend's barbeque. First up were my family's favorite brownies ever: Paula Dean's Toffee Brownies:

These are actually known as "crack brownies" in our home. :) I also made Rice Krispy Treats (extra marshmallows of course!):

I made some lemonade as well. Then it was time to pick up the kids. I had this bar on the way:

Oooohhhh....I liked this flavor! Yum! I think I like these better than Fiber One bars! I took the kids to a doctor appointment and then we came home to chill for bit. We decided it was a Pei Wei kind of night:

Kid's size Honey Seared Shrimp with brown rice and veggies. My usual. Hubby just left for LA for one night for work so I need to get the kids to bed soon as well as myself. :) I just started a new book: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.....so I'll be reading that tonight. :)
What are you reading right now? Do you like it?

  1. The toffee brownies sound heavenly! The honey shrimp look pretty yummy too! I just ordered 12 books - I read a lot - especially during the summer. I like a true escape from everyday life and mostly read fantasy.

  2. I am about 5 pages into "The Help."
I make my rice krispie treats with extra marshmellows as well. I just made some a few days ago and they are already gone!
