143.0…Burgers & Cake

My mom and I went to my brother’s house last night to celebrate his birthday. He wanted to go to Westside Tavern for dinner. I had never been….you know how I love trying new restaurants!

We all split the Korean BBQ Chicken Flatbread (Smoked Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions, Sesame, Scallions) to start.

For my entree, I chose the Grilled Salmon Burger (Avocado, Fresh Pickles, Tomato-Caper Vin, Dill Aioli, Wheat Bun).

It came with a mixed green salad. It was a delicious salmon burger! I only ate half because I wasn’t completely hungry after the ginormous burrito I had for lunch.  The food at Westside Tavern was excellent. The menu is seasonal and everything is fresh. The service, on the other hand, stunk. Boo.

We went back to my brother’s house for dessert. We had his favorite birthday dessert: ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins.

Hard to resist the Gold Medal Ribbon flavor. That was my favorite flavor there growing up!

My breakfast this morning was toast with peanut butter.

Lunch was at The Corner Bakery. I had the soup/salad combo. Chopped salad (ranch dressing, no blue cheese) and chili.

Yum! The chili tasted perfect on this rainy Southern California day!

I just got back to San Diego and now I’m sitting in a Starbucks, drinking hot green tea, waiting to pick up the kids from school. Soup….tea….I’m ready for fall!

  1. It's hard to pick just one so my favorites are pistachio almond and mocha almond fudge. I'm ashamed to say I've never tried gold medal ribbon!

  4. That flatbread looks amazing, sans the onions! I am actually not a fan of ice cream cakes!
