Old Times Are Good Times

That’s exactly how I’d describe this past weekend: Good Old Times. I met with several friends from college and we had a blast talking about old times. We drank, we ate and we laughed a lot.

Friday night the husband, kids and I met some other friends for dinner at Villa Capri 2. I was being a good girl and kept it to one glass of wine because I had a long run the following morning.

My husband and I shared linguine with vodka sauce:

Way to carb load!!!

Saturday morning I was up at 5AM to get ready to meet Team in Training for a 9 mile run. I cannot believe the half marathon is 2 weeks away!!

I had my standard long run breakfast: toast with peanut butter:

May 2011 137

I met my team in Carlsbad and before I knew it, I was off!

May 2011 164

Mile 1 – 10:50

Mile 2 – 10:49

Mile 3 – 11:12

Mile 4 – 10:53

Mile 5 – 11:22

Mile 6 – 11:06

Mile 7 – 11:26

Mile 8 – 11:17

Mile 9 – 10:41

I kept a nice easy pace and felt really good the whole way. After stretching, I made my way home. I ate a Larabar along the way: chocolate chip brownie flavor. I like this one! I stopped at Starbucks for a latte as well.

May 2011 138

I quickly showered and got dressed and hit the road to downtown San Diego to meet up with my college friends. I arrived at the Hotel Solamar and met everyone at the rooftop pool for lunch and drinks.

May 2011 139

It was so good seeing everyone!! It had been a long time since I’ve seen some of them. The group:

May 2011 140

I ordered another glass of wine and lunch.

May 2011 141

I was STARVING at that point. I ordered the BLT and fries.

May 2011 142

The sandwich was just ok but the fries were pretty good. :)

Next up was the Jazz Festival.

May 2011 143

I think we got there too early because there wasn’t too much going on. The music didn’t sound like jazz to me and the crowd was really random. I’m not a jazz music fan so I guess I can’t appreciate it.

We decided to go into The Hopping Pig for some snacks.

May 2011 146

I shared some sweet potato fries with everyone. The fries were disappearing fast. They were good!

Wendy and I:

May 2011 149

We came back outside for a bit and made our way back to the hotel.

Diana, Karen, Wendy and Evelyn:

May 2011 151

We wanted to get back to the hotel at 5PM because they had free wine in the lobby. How lovely! :)

May 2011 152

We spent an hour in the lobby and then it was up to our rooms to get ready for dinner. We went to The Marble Room for dinner. It used to be a brothel in the 1900s. All the waitresses were dressed like they worked in a brothel. It was definitely an interesting sights!

We were seated and ordered some wine and appetizers for the table.

Sascha and Erica:

May 2011 154

I promised Erica she could have a spot on my blog so here you go Erica!

May 2011 157

Erica organized the whole trip and did such an awesome job! Thank you!

May 2011 158

We shared ahi lettuce wraps:

May 2011 159

The ahi was pretty good. My dinner, however, was not. :(

May 2011 160

I ordered the scampi with shrimp and scallops. It was bland and boring and the fish tasted rubbery. Boo! I did share some mac and cheese that was on the table. I should have ordered that. It was much better.

After dinner we walked over to The Ivy hotel to dance the night away at their club. I never stopped dancing last night. The music was fabulous and and it was just an overall awesome time. By the time we left it was late, my feet hurt and was pooped. Nine miles and hours of dancing?? Show me my bed.

Something different about old time: I cannot sleep like I used to after a night of drinking. I’ll fall asleep and a couple of hours later I wake up and that’s it. Off and on crappy sleep. What happened to those days in college were you could go to bed at 2am and sleep until noon? Good old times.

There was a definite need for coffee this morning.

May 2011 162

And breakfast! We walked over to Zanzibar restaurant for breakfast. I ordered the Southwestern Omelet.

May 2011 163

Homemade tortillas. Yum!!

After breakfast we went back to the hotel and I grabbed my stuff and drove home. What a fabulous weekend! It was so nice to catch up with everyone. I can’t wait to do it again next year!

Do you like jazz music?

Do you still spend time with college friends?
