135.2 yesterday, 136.8…Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones may break my bones but it doesn’t stop me from getting around and enjoying delicious eats!

There are times when I am really thankful for my freezer full of leftovers. Tuesday night was one of those nights. My foot was killing me but I was getting a bit tired of take-out so I defrosted some Bolognese sauce, cooked up some penne pasta and dinner was done!

Even better the second time around!

Yesterday morning I had a toasted English muffin with peanut butter and an iced coffee.

I took the kids to school and then Lisa picked me up for the Dia Del Sol luncheon & fashion show benefitting United Cerebral Palsy. I spent most of the event seated enjoying some wine.

Not a bad day. :) I enjoyed a delicious lunch: chicken picatta with a mushroom orzo risotto.

Dessert was a trio of assorted goodies:

It was a great afternoon raising money for a much needed cause. Several children with cerebral palsy participated in the fashion show. Their stories were quite moving and I was glad to have attended the event, knowing that my attendance helped them.

The events didn’t stop there. Last night we met Alicia, Joe and their kids at Phil’s BBQ. The last time we attempted to go to Phil’s, it was closed. So this trip was way over due.

Baby back ribs, cole slaw and potato salad (for my husband). Epic. It wasn’t just my friends that joined us for dinner but the principal of my children’s school joined us as well. :) He recently discovered my blog and found out that we go to Phil’s every so often. Phil’s is one of his favorite restaurants so I asked him to join us. Much to the kids’ shock, he did! We all had a great time!

Today’s breakfast was a toasted English muffin with peanut butter again.

I took the kids to school, got my nails done and then met some of my friends at Wahoo’s for our “taco diet” fish tacos.

Awesome, as usual.  I made a quick trip to the grocery store and now I’m home with my foot up where I plan to be for the rest of the day.

What’s the most unusual thing you have in your freezer?

  1. Your pasta looks killer! I noticed you seem to always have something handy in the freezer you can defrost. We just usually eat and eat whatever I cook until it is gone but I should start freezing stuff--it wouldn't get so boring! I love that the kids' principal joined you for lunch, that would have floored me as a kid--I was so shy I probably would have been completely silent through the whole dinner. Good for you for going to the cerebral palsy event and you had some good eats there too! The weirdest thing in my freezer is pineapple juice ice cubes-lol. I drain my pineapple and make ice cubes so I can use them in my fruit smoothies sometimes. :)

  2. I love taking stuff out of my freezer in a pinch - if I could only remember to label the damn things in there though.

I once brought roasted red pepper soup for work one day for lunch, turns out it was marinara sauce!

Hope your foot doesn't hurt as much today!
