139.4…Getting It Done

The last few days have been all about knocking things off my to-do list. We leave for Europe on Saturday and I’m hosting Bunco at my house on Tuesday so I have a lot to do before then.

My friends Alicia and Joe just got back from Italy and had us over on Friday night for dinner. While we enjoyed tales of their adventures during their trip, we also enjoyed some chips, dip and wine.

Dinner was grilled burgers and corn.

Love. The burgers were perfect. I put pesto spread on the bun which really kicked the burger up a notch!

After we left Joe & Alicia’s, we had family come over to stay the night.

Saturday morning’s breakfast was fast and simple. Homemade peanut butter on toast.

I ran to a few grocery stores to get what I needed for Bunco on Tuesday. I’m really excited about what I’m making and can’t wait to share the recipes with you!

I did some food prep work then had lunch. We ordered pizza from a new place that recently opened, Flippin Pizza.

We ordered cheese pizza and the house salad. I really enjoyed it! The pizza was thin crust and the salad was especially good.

Next up on my agenda was to start packing for Europe. We are going to be gone for 2 weeks so planning ahead is essential.

Soon enough is was dinner time. We decided to pick up Brett’s BBQ.

I had the half barbequed chicken, baked beans and Cole slaw. It was huge so I only ate half and saved the rest.

Breakfast this morning was Trader Joe’s Greek style vanilla bean yogurt, Coconut-Sour Cherry Granola, strawberries and raspberries.

I went on a walk with Lisa and Annette and came home to get dressed and take my daughter to the dentist.

Lunch was the rest of last night’s dinner:

The rest of the day has been spent prepping all my food for tomorrow’s Bunco. I want to make it as easy as possible tomorrow so I measured out everything, chopped everything I could, got out all the serving platters, etc. I still have more work to do so I better get to it!

What are your best tips on planning ahead for a dinner party?

  1. Pretty much what you do.....chop, prep, dishes, platters, glasses etc. have fun in Europe....we just got back, then we're in your neck of the woods a few days before heading to Newport beach. Back in Phoenix till Sunday then we head to San Fran. I will be so ready to be done with suitcases!!!!

  2. I never make anything I've never made before. I made that mistake once and it didn't go so well!
