It’s My Birthday!

Today is my 35th birthday! I love my birthday! So far it has been awesome and I expect it to get even better tonight! :)

Wednesday night, I actually cooked dinner. It’s been awhile. I made chicken and a fancy macaroni and cheese made with mascarpone cheese (recipe coming soon!).

Yesterday morning’s breakfast was toast with Teddie peanut butter and cantaloupe.

I took the kids to school and went to Zumba. Afterwards I got my nails done and stopped for lunch at Submarina.

I had a turkey sandwich and a side of macaroni salad. I’m a sucker for macaroni salad.

I ran a few more errands, picked up the kids from school and came home to pack. We were going to our friends’ company’s holiday party in downtown San Diego. Hubby decided that we should stay overnight so we don’t have to drive home and because my birthday was the next morning. Works for me!

We checked into the Hard Rock Hotel downtown and got ready for the holiday party which was held at the Ultimate Skybox overlooking Petco Park. The view was amazing! And so was the food! There was a sushi bar as soon as we got to the party.

You know I went back a couple of times. :) I enjoyed a couple glasses of wine over the evening.

For dinner, there was a bunch of appetizers. My favorite!! There were two different kinds of sliders: cheeseburger and salmon. Both were excellent.

There was also a street taco table!

I had one beef and one fish taco with rice. The fish taco was especially good.

The best was saved for last:

Check out this dessert bar! My friend made most of these and arranged this table! I was amazed!

The doughnut skewers and cake pops were especially good. :) It was also nice going back to our hotel and going to bed.

The first excellent thing that happened to me on my birthday was that I got to sleep in. Next, my husband brought me coffee from Starbucks. Then something incredible happened.

He went downstairs to the hotel’s restaurant, Mary Jane’s, and got me a GIANT breakfast burrito. It had scrambled eggs, house-made chorizo, pepper jack cheese and salsa. I put tons of salsa on top and went to town. It basically rocked my face off. I only got through half of it before I had to throw in the towel. I gave it my best shot.

We checked out of the hotel and went to my daughter’s Hanukkah party at school. I picked up my son and came home.

Tonight I am going to dinner with a few friends and I am REALLY looking forward to it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

Do you get excited or dread your birthdays?
