135.6…Kraft Fresh Take Cheese & Breadcrumb Mix

Kraft recently sent me a coupon to try their new Fresh Take Cheese & Breadcrumb mix. I chose the Italian Parmesan flavor.

The package contains a zip lock type bag. Half contains cheese and the other half contains the breadcrumb mixture. You open the bag and mix them together and coat either chicken, pork or fish with it. Since my husband doesn’t eat pork or fish, my choice of chicken was easy.

I pounded two chicken breasts and coated them in the mixture. The package says you can get up to 6 servings from it. I didn’t want to make 6 chicken breasts so I really loaded the coating on. Then I baked it at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. The package doesn’t give any cooking instructions so I just used the instructions from a similar recipe I make.

To go with the chicken breasts, I served baked potatoes with sour cream and chives…..

….and a salad.

My thoughts: I liked how easy it was to prepare. But honestly…how hard is it to mix parmesan cheese and Italian breads crumbs together? I enjoyed the taste and would be curious if the other flavors would be different enough to be worth purchasing.

By the way…the baked potatoes I served last night were baked a couple of months ago and frozen. Another freezing experiment success! You would never have known they were frozen. I just defrosted them, nuked them in the microwave for about 2-3 minutes each and threw them in the 400 degree oven with the chicken for the last 10 minutes to crisp up the skins. Perfect! Next time you have a big bag of potatoes, bake them all and freeze them!

This morning’s breakfast rocked.

I scrambled some Egg Beaters, added shredded cheddar cheese and then put the mix into a tortilla. To that I added avocado and my Baja Fresh Salsa. I ate each and every bite with Cholula hot sauce. :) I also enjoyed some strawberries on the side.

I dropped the kids off at school. This week is Teacher Appreciation Week at the school and I was in charge of picking up coffees at Starbucks for the preschool teacher. So….I picked up one for myself!

I went to Zumba and came home to get some bills paid, laundry started, etc. Lunch was a salami sandwich with spicy mustard on rye bread with a salad.

I picked up the kids from school, ate some Wheat Thins (too many) in the car and came home. Nothing too terribly exciting on the agenda for the evening…just making dinner. :) Enjoy the rest of your day!

Have you tried the new Kraft Fresh Take Cheese & Breadcrumb Mixes?

  1. Thanks for the tip on freezing baked potatoes! I freeze a lot of things, but would have never thought of baked potatoes. I am starting my freezer meal prep for quick post-baby meals. 8 weeks left!

  3. we have tried most of the flavors of the kraft stuff. the bacon one is by far my favorite!!! the chili lime one is really good too. we have tried them all on chicken. i had the same thoughts about the one you mix in ground beef. i could mix my own cheese and bacon bits and make a hamburger. i have always found the instructions in the cardboard part of the packaging. there are only 3 of us so i dumped half of the crumbs and half of the cheese out before i mixed them together. i dipped my chicken in those and mixed the other half into instant mashed potatoes. i also dipped my chicken in buttermilk mixed w/a little hot sauce first to make the coating stick. yum!!!
