147.2...From Las Vegas to the World Series and Beyond!
I feel like I have been everywhere in the last week or so! When I last left off we were in Austin, Texas for a work trip for my husband. The evening of Wednesday, October 25th, we joined the group for dinner at our hotel, The W. It was a barbecue buffet and I helped myself to a little bit of everything.
We skipped dessert and went over to my brother in law and sister’s in laws house to hang out for a bit before calling it a night.
The next morning my husband went out to his activity for the day and I stayed back to sleep in. I went downstairs for lunch at Trace Restaurant. I had the Trace Butcher Burger (tillamook cheddar, tomatoes, crisp lettuce, onions, house pickles):
It was good but it definitely made me need a nap. So I took one until my husband came back. Lol. I literally slept all day.
Dinner was at La Condesa with the group. It was a set menu and everything was meant to be shared.
Ensalada De La Casa (mixed farm greens, avocado, queso fresco, tortilla strips, balsamic vinaigrette):
Guacamoles Y Salsas (selection of seasonal guacamoles and salsas):
Three different kind of tacos:
Cochinita Pibil (achiote-braised pork shoulder, pickled red onion)
Pescado (griddled snapper, cabbage, pico de gallo)
Barbacoa (braised lamb, mint-serrano salsa, mill king requeson)
For the main entree, there were several different meats: hanger steak, roasted chicken, shrimp and pork loin.
The corn was the best part! Grilled Mexican-style street corn off the cob, quest cotija, chile:
After dinner we called it a night.
Friday morning we had room service for breakfast.
Eggs over easy, potatoes, bacon and toast.
We headed to the airport for Las Vegas for Joe’s 50th Birthday Weekend!
We arrived, checked into The Wynn Hotel, got dressed and met everyone in the lobby for cocktails. Then it was off to Piero’s for dinner.
Our meal began with Mozzarella Fritta (mozzarella cheese, crisply fried, with anchovies, garlic and parsley) as well as Cheese Ravioli:
Next course was Italian Salad:
We had a choice of entree and I went with their Osso Bucco:
Dessert was Cheesecake:
Wow, dinner was fabulous!! After dinner we went to the Britney Spears concert at Planet Hollywood. While I enjoyed seeing her, I didn’t think it was the best show. She was very generic and robotic. I mean, I expected her to lip sync through the whole thing but it was so robotic and un-personal that I felt a bit disappointed. I’m glad I saw her but wasn’t impressed.
Somehow we had energy for a bit of late-night gambling afterwards.
A late-night snack was needed so we stopped at a little sandwich place at the hotel. I had a grilled cheese.
I could only eat about half. It was the most decadent grilled cheese I had ever had.
Saturday’s room service breakfast:
We all met up and headed off to our Grand Canyon helicopter ride! We took a sweet ride to the airport.
Ready to fly!
We landed at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and enjoyed some bubbly and a picnic lunch.
Cute story: my husband proposed to me almost 16 years ago after a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. We don’t have a picture of it so we thought we’d be funny and try and recreate the moment.
I think we nailed it. ;)
We got back in our helicopter and flew back to Las Vegas. Such an amazing adventure!
Dinner that night was at Sinatra at the Wynn.
Our meal began with Caprese (mozzarella di bufala, vine ripened tomatoes, red onion, basil):
Followed by fabulous Gnocchi:
For my entree, I chose the Veal Parmigiana (thinly pounded veal chop, melted mozzarella, pomodoro sauce):
One huge plate of goodness!
Dessert was Joe’s birthday cake!
Happy Birthday Joe! We love you!!
We did a bit of gambling before calling a night in Las Vegas.
We all had brunch at Jardin. I enjoyed some Sunday morning traditional beverages:
When I saw that Maine Lobster Benedict was an option, I had to order it.
Fabulous.
We did a bit of shopping then headed to the airpot for our flight home.
Dinner was Burger Night at our club with a bunch of family and friends.
I went big and had the beef burger (with a bun this time!) with cheddar, lettuce, onion, tomato and red onion. By the time I went to bed I was exhausted.
Monday’s breakfast:
I took the kids to school, then met with my trainer at the gym. That was rough, as usual. I had an appointment afterwards, then met some friends at lunch at Bazille, the restaurant in our new Nordstrom. I had the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad (organic baby greens, romaine lettuce, wild shrimp, petite tomatoes, grilled corn, jack cheese, tortilla strips, cilantro lime vinaigrette):
It was pretty good except it was a bit small. The service there was terribly slow too. I know they are new and probably trying to get their kinks out.
I picked the kids up from school and took my son to Bar Mitzvah tutoring.
Monday night was Bunco at Marcela’s house. She hosted Halloween Bunco last year and outdid herself. She did it again this year. Amazing!
My huge plate as usual:
Check out all the fabulous desserts!
I was not in a costume. I couldn’t pull my “ish” together that evening. Lol.
Breakfast Tuesday:
I took the kids to school, then came home to get ready to head to Los Angeles for Game 6 of the World Series! I stopped at Jersey Mike’s for lunch before my meeting my husband at his office.
Game 6!
We went to an event before the game where I had a few snacks:
Then it was game on! Dodgers vs. Astros!
We sat with our friends Quinton and Terri.
Of course I had to have a Dodger Dog loaded with everything!
It was such a fun game complete with a Dodger win! We drove back to San Diego and went to bed.
Breakfast Wednesday:
I dropped off the kids and got ready for to head to Game 7 of the World Series! Back to LA! I stopped at Marketplace Grill for lunch on the way to my husband’s office.
We went with a bigger group this time so we rented a Sprinter van.
My brother hung with us beforehand at the same event we went to the day before.
I ate the same snacks and a Dodger Dog of course! Too bad the game didn’t end the way we wanted but it was so much fun being there!
Thursday’s breakfast:
Thursday was a bit of a fog for me. All the activities we’ve been doing were definitely catching up with me. I took the kids to school, got my nails done and ran some errands. I stopped at NaPizza for lunch. I had my usual Greek Quinoa Salad.
I went to my son’s flag football game after school then came home and made spaghetti for dinner. It hit the spot. It always does.
I was asleep by 8:15 that night.
Yesterday's breakfast:
I took the kids to school, then went to Orange Theory where they tried to kill me.
Lunch was with Alicia at Ototo Sushi. We split our usual stuff:
After school, I took my kids to get haircuts. They both had cotillion. Somewhere in the middle, I reheated spaghetti for dinner.
After a glorious sleep and the fact that I got to sleep in AND in my own bed, I felt so much better this morning. I had a cup of coffee and my usual breakfast.
I spent the day trying to get caught up on everything I’ve neglected around the house lately. Lunch was ordered in from Milton’s Deli.
Half a salami sandwich, cole slaw and a pickle.
Glad to spend a quiet weekend at home!

The food is so tempting, my mouth is watering right now. It seems like the entire trip was full of fun and tasty snacks and dinners. Would love to try all these one day.
