137.0…Barilla Microwaveable Meals

Hello! I’m blogging from the San Diego airport waiting for my flight to San Francisco for a girl’s weekend!

Barilla recently sent me one of  their new Microwaveable Meals to try. Last night my husband was out and I didn’t feel like making anything so I thought it would be the perfect time to try it.

Barilla sent me their Mezze Penne with Spicy Marinara Sauce. Barilla Microwaveable Meals are available in 4 other varieties: Tomato & Basil, Traditional Marinara, Tomato & Basil (Whole Grain Pasta) and Vegetable Marinara (Whole Grain Pasta).

It could not have been easier to prepare. You pull back a corner to reveal the sauce and microwave on high for 6o seconds. After plating it, I was really impressed with how it looked.

Now onto the taste….for a microwaveable meal, I was impressed. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was pretty darn good.  I did add red pepper flakes to it but I always add them to pasta dishes. I really couldn’t believe how easy it was. These would be good to have on hand for those nights you don’t want to cook or maybe to bring into work for lunch.

From Barilla: “Developed with busy people in mind, Barilla microwaveable meals are shelf-stable so you can throw them into your bag on your way out the door, or keep a supply in your desk drawer at work. They’re made with only high-quality 100% natural ingredients and no preservatives. And they are ready in just 60 seconds!

The revolutionary packaging separates the pasta from the pourable sauce cup to maintain the taste, texture and freshness of each classic dish until you are ready to enjoy your meal.”

I’m not big on microwaveable meals but this one might have won me over!

To go with the pasta, I made a salad with Ranch dressing.

This morning’s breakfast was a half bagel with Teddie Super Chunky peanut butter and some watermelon.

I took the kids to school and headed to the airport. I immediately got checked in and headed to Starbucks for a latte.

I feel like it’s not a true airport experience unless you get a coffee. :)

My flight is boarding soon so I will sign off now. I’m getting in before most of my friends so I’ll treat myself to a nice lunch and some shopping when I get there. I cant’ wait!

Have you tried any of the Barilla Microwaveable Meals?
